Total Rise
?
Ideal Rise is the rise you'd prefer.
Actual Rise is calculated so that all rises fit evenly into Total Rise, at nearest to Ideal Rise.

Primary Source Data: This tool generates precise geometric layout dimensions based on Planar Geometry and Trigonometry. Unlike general estimators, these calculations provide 1:1 vector data for physical lay out and cutting. Calculation Accuracy: Processes real-time trigonometric ratios for Stringer lay out Verification: Output intended for use with true scaled Printable plans for physical on-site validation. Note: This layout tool is an original engineering utility developed by Blocklayer for trade professionals.

Mark, cut, and test 1 stringer in place, then use it as a template to mark the rest.

To calculate and display upper floor opening and stair head-room, enter upper floor thickness, check the Show Head-room check-box and drag the Head slider to calculate and animate diagram head-room and floor opening.
For concrete stairs, select Concrete Thickness and enter the throat thickness (see diagram) and Stair Width to calculate formwork dimensions and concrete volume. For wooden stairs, select Stringer Width and enter the width of the stringer.

Example of Projects Completed Hi there. I just wanted to let you know that I found your stair calculator incredibly useful.
My wife and I designed and built a set of stairs for my parents, as their existing stairs were not up to code, and had been badly built.

In any event, this was our first set of stairs that we’ve ever built and it’s no easy task for a first timer. I found it so useful to be able to tinker around with potential ideal rises and runs, tread thickness, riser, thicknesses, and nosings and see how it would impact our final product.

The end result was honestly fantastic. The stairs are about 1 million times more sturdy than the pre-existing ones and my parents are so incredibly impressed and grateful.
I’ve attached some pictures of the project and the final result!

Thank you!

If you're cutting blocks, concrete, stone or ANYTHING and there's DUST - DON'T TAKE THE RISK
Don't cut it, or cut it wet so there's NO DUST - Silicosis Sucks
And if you're cutting wet, wear a mask - there's dust in the spray mist too!
